Nabil Saleh, scooped his second gold medal for Uganda at the 12th CANA Zone III and IV swimming championships at Kampala Parents School on Lugogo by pass today.

Saleh, won his event in the Boys 12 and Under Freestyle in a time of 2.17.50 while Kenya’s Alvin Omondi and Henrique Mascarenhas of Angola finished second and third with times of 2.2410 and 2.25.30 respectively.

He had earlier won his race yesterday day the boys 100m backstroke with a time of 1.09.80 to scoop his first gold medal.

The other Ugandan swimmer who won a second gold was Kimberly Hind who won her Girls 13-14 Freestyle race with a time of 2.13.20 and was followed by South Africa’s Dane Steyn and Kirsty Marais who came second and third with times of 2.16.90 and 2.17.10 respectively.

Kenya maintained it’s power in the water scooping nine gold medals and maintaining it’s lead going into tomorrow’s events with a total of 1323 points while South Africa is second with a total of 1131 points, Zambia is third with 1090 points. Uganda is sixth in the standings with 710.5 points.

The four day swimming competition concludes on Sunday with the official closing ceremony.
