Former National Rally Champion Ronald Ssebuguzi will open the route as the third round of the NRC calendar gets underway at the MPU Rally in Masaka.

Ssebuguzi who leads the standings with 150 points after two rounds (Mbarara & Jinja events) is favourite to clinch his first victory this season after finishing second in the previous two events.

With defending champion Jas Mangat and speed merchant Ponsiano Lwakataka all out of the event due to various reasons, Ssebuguzi (Mitsubish Evo IX) will be the most experienced driver in the race but faces stiff competition from Jonas Kansiime (Subaru N10) and Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru (Subaru N14) winners in Jinja and Mbarara respectively.

Kansiime will be flagged off second while Kikankane third placed (100pts) will follow in the 290-kilometre rally that starts with a super special stage at the Misaali double circuit track on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, drivers will hit the competitive sections in Bukeri-Ssanje (64km), Kasana-Kitengesa (42km) and Kaddugala-Kyabakuza (30km).

Top three NRC standings after two rounds:

Ronald Ssebuguzi 150pts

Jonas Kansiime      140

Duncan Mubiru      100
