2014 Uganda Cup Semi-finals:

1st leg results:

KCC 2 – 1 Victoria University

URA 4 – 0 Jinja Municipal Council

Kampala City Council (KCC) and Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football clubs have won their first legs of the 2014 Uganda Cup semi-finals after beating Victoria University and Jinja Municipal Council 2- 1 and 4 – 0 respectively on Friday evening.

At a slippery and water logged Phillip Omondi Stadium turf in Lugogo, KCC rallied from a goal down to win the game with the return leg coming just after one day at Namboole Stadium.

Dennis Iguma long range effort after the opening half hour had beaten goalie, Nicolas Ssebwato but KCC leveled matters through a William Wadri that followed a goal melee after second half substitute, Brian Majwega’s inswinging corner.

Teenager, Derrick Nsibambi buried the game with a strike typical of a poacher’s instincts 20 minutes to the full time whistle.

Another Majwega telling cross into the area found a static goalie, Benjamin Ochan onto the goal line. Nsibambi reacted quickest to nod the ball at the near post as Ochan anticipated the cross to reach him and spark wild celebrations among the KCC faithful.

KCC missed the services of Herman Wasswa and Tonny Odur (injuries) while Victoria University’s Noah Ssemakula and Dan Nsubuga missed for similar reasons.

At Mehta stadium, Lugazi, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) beat FUFA big league, Jinja Municipal Council 4 -0 to have a four goal cushion ahead of Sunday’s return leg at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja district.

The result means that Jinja Municipal needs atleast 5 goals without URA’s response to qualify during the second leg.

Moses Ali Feni scored a brace before Saidi Kyeyune and Robert Ssentongo notched the other goals for the tax collectors.

The return legs will be played on Sunday, 11th May 2014 with the final’s date yet to be confirmed.

The final match of the 2014 Uganda Cup will be played at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.
