Dolphins swimming club will be eyeing back to back swimming titles at the Kenya junior swimming championships from May 16-18 in Nairobi, Kenya at the Aga Khan High School.

“We are entering a team of 43 swimmers that includes both boys and girls,” Tony Kasujja, the coach of the side said. “We are looking forward to retaining our title, but we know they will be a lot of resistance from the hosts.”

 Last year Dolphins won the same championship and will be seeking for the same this time around.

The club’s quest will be led by 2012 swimmer of the year Tendo Mukalazi, is sister Kirabo Mutebi others are Selina Katumba, Samora Lumonya, Rafael Sine, Lionel Rezida together Joshua Lumonya.

The other Uganda club that will be taking part in this championship is Seals swimming club. “We are looking forward to surprises from our new faces who could surprise us they include Michelle Sine, Gabrielle Sine plus Ssubi Byansi, Nanette Nsereko and Siegfried Katumwa, we believe they could win us medals,” Kasujja added. “We have a bright team of swimmers who are always eager and willing to surprise us.”

Dolphins has been participating in this competition since 2008, but previously made the debut in 2007 through Aga Khan Junior School.

“It’s a championship that we cherish very much because it’s a good ground for grooming, identifying and nurturing youth talent,” Kasujja said. “It has also given our young swimmers the opportunity to showcase their talent, but at the same time exposed them and given them the confidence going into international championships or events like this.”

The championship is organized by the Kenya Swimming Association and is also expected to attract swimmers from Tanzania.

Kenya will have the opportunity of fielding swimmers from Central Kenya, Mombasa, Nakuru and other parts of the country.

Dolphins trip has been sponsored by Riham Cola, who have given the club 10 million other sponsors include Protea Hotels that has offered 2.4 million, Teltec has offered T-shirts for the contingent while Air Uganda is airlifting the squad and offering a discount across for the club.
