The girl child has been always sidelined in regards several physical tasks later on many outdoor sports activities.

In fact, to find a female sex taking up sporting disciplines predominately known to be played by men like Rugby, football, American football, cricket, basketball, it would be a big bonus.

For Maureen Adroru, 15, born and raised in Hoima District, she has never feared nor regretted playing football.

She was voted the Most Valuable Player among the over 10 teams that participated in the Airtel Rising Stars u-17 season football tournament in Masindi district over the weekend.

“I started to play football with the boys near my home area and today i have no regrets”, the player who turned out for Fort Portal’s Create Peace f.c told Kawowo Sports.

To Adroru, she aspires to make it to the selected side that will represent team Uganda in Gabon later this year.

Friday Joshem is the coach and mentor of Adroru. Having seen her develop as a soccer player, Friday has always encouraged the player to train and be disciplined.

“I have encouraged her along the other girls to play girls’ football because many have got school bursaries”, he says.
