The Federation of Rwanda Football Association (Ferwafa) finally unveiled British coach Stephen Constantine as a replacement for national Eric Nshimiyimana as the Amavubi coach.

Last week, Ferwafa had announced they were finalizing talks with Constantine to take over as the new Amavubi head coach.

The former Millwall first team coach agreed a two year deal and is expected to be in the dugout on May 31 when Rwanda hosts Libya in the second leg of the 2015 AFCON qualifiers after watching the first leg 0-0 draw in Tunis from the stands.

Speaking to the press after his unveiling in Kigali on Tuesday, Constantine said it was a great honour to be considered as the Amavubi coach and promised to work towards improving the nation’s game.

“I want to use my vast experience, which includes serving as a Fifa instructor, to improve Rwandan football through training local coaches,” Constantine said.

He called on all Rwandans to get on board and play a part in building a successful national team. “The work I am about to embark on is not about me, it’s about every Rwandan and if we are going to be successful, we need to work together,” Constantine said.

He will be assisted by AS Kigali head coach Cassa Mbungo who oversaw the first leg in Libya as an interim coach.

Constantine has experience of African football, having managed Malawi from February 2007 to April 2008 and Sudan.

He has also coached the national sides of Nepal and India.

Constantine, who holds a Uefa pro licence, recently helped Nea Salamis in the Cypriot First Division to gain promotion.
