Bamburi Rugby Super Series Match Day 3 at Nakuru Athletic Club.
Fixtures : Pool B, UAP Kifaru Vs Hima Rwenzori at 2.00PM
Pool A: Ndovu Vs Bollore Chui at 4.00PM
The 2014 Bamburi Rugby Super Series resumes this Saturday after a break of two weeks that saw Kenyan rugby club, Top Fry Nakuru claim the 2014 Kenya Rugby Cup at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi. Ugandan franchise, Hima Rwenzori aim for a semi final slot against UAP Kifaru, in a pool B encounter bound to unfold as a fate decider for both teams.
Hima Rwenzori will be playing this, as their second Bamburi Rugby match, having succumbed to 06-25 defeat against Kenya’s Papa in the tournament opener at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds in Kampala.
Papa, the same franchise that disappointed Hima Rwenzori, proceeded to the Semi final after their second match thanks to their triumph at Kakamega, edging pool B counterpart Kifaru 8-6.
Since both Kenyan and Ugandan franchises in UAP Kifaru and Hima Rwenzori lost their premier encounters, Saturday’s winner will automatically make the semi finals, with the exception of a draw.
Hima Rwenzori coach Allan Musoke acknowledges the daunting task ahead of him, following a trial test match that had his side edged 23-22 against the Rugby Cranes last Saturday. “Kenya has a very immense player base. They have a majority of players to choose from. They invested in a strength and conditioning programme. However, I have worked with my team so we should be more competitive all around the pack,” he said.
The same match day at Nakuru, Kenya is also set to involve defending champions Ndovu, as they take on Bollore Chui at 4.00PM. Ndovu seek their second victory having thrashed Ugandan franchise Victoria, 40-6 at Kakamega.
Both Ndovu and Chui have already progressed from pool A to the semi finals since Victoria lost to both sides in a row.
