Big fruitful feats come in bulk for all those who play the patient game with sheer luck, caution and diligence.
The Ugandan rally driving crew of Peter Kakaire and Edward Kiyingi will boldly attest to the remarks aforementioned.
On Tuesday morning, the crew, who had taken a two year sabbatical off the sport were treated to a sponsorship package from communications company, Uganda Telecom Limited.
“We are so glad for UTL, after 2 years from rallying, we resumed this year with the Jinja and Masaka rallies. This package means, we shall not miss any event and also gives us the impetus to race without any excuse”, Peter Kakaire, who was flanked by his co driver, Edward Kiyingi said at a brief ceremony held at the Rwenzori courts parking yard in Kampala.
The crew, winners of the national Clubman Rally Championships (CRC) on their debut season in 2010 has so far raced in 2 events this year.
After finishing 7th in the Jinja race and 4th in the recently concluded Masaka rally, the crew anticipates to use the package for the upcoming Rwanda national rally to compensate for the missed event in Mbarara.
Car Well Tuned:
“Now our car suspension issues will be a history chapter to be studied in rally classes. We look upon upcoming races starting with this Sunday’s Busiika circuit, before we embark on more two races for next month (Rwanda and Luwero rallies)”, Kakaire elucidated.
Uganda Telecom’s chief commercial officer, Shailendra, challenged the driving crew to keep in fine sharp as a good ambassador of the company.
“As UTL, we are also happy for Kakaire and Kiyingi. We hope for the best results and pledge to sponsor the crew throughout”, Shailendra said.
The event was witnessed by FMU President, Jack Wavamunno, Hajji Nkambwe (FMU Publicity secretary), the rallying couple of Leila and Omar Mayanja, the media and other officials from Uganda Telecom including the marketing manager, Arif Ameer.
UTL’s offer was perhaps never disclosed in monetary terms.
Precision Motors and Auto Salon Uganda are the other partners for Kakaire-Kiyingi rally crew.
