West African giants Equatorial Guinea will play no more part at the 9th Africa Women’s Championship after Ivory Coast eliminated them on an-away goal rule, following a 2-2 draw over the weekend in Malabo city.
Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg played in Abidjan town a fortnight ago, Ivory Coast edged out Equatorial Guinea on away goals after the duo tied 3-3 on aggregate.
Elsewhere, in Kaduna city, the Super Falcons of Nigeria achieved their objective of qualifying for every edition of African women championship after thumping CECAFA Region representatives Rwanda 12-1 on aggregate.
Uganda Withdrew from the competition following a low financial muscle. The final tournament will be held from 11-25 October in Namibia where the top 3 will represent the continent in 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Eight teams will compete in Namibia finals amongst which include Ivory Coast, Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Zambia, South Africa and hosts Namibia. Equatorial Guineans are the defending champion.
