About three weeks ago, Moses Kipsiro had been dropped by local body Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) from the 18-man provisional team bound for next month’s Commonwealth Games.
In that, the 28-year-old would have been deprived of a chance to defend his 5000m and 10000m titles that he won at the previous edition in Indian capital New Delhi in 2010.
But early this week, UAF turned down their decision and have now included Kipsiro on the 18-man list to the Glasgow games due July 27 – August 3.
Despite the turn around, it is still unclear if Kipsiro will take part as he missed to do his biometric data entry for the Games.
Kipsiro fell out with UAF after he spoke out about sexual harassment in the March 16 Africa Cross-country Championships training camp in Bukwo.
He questioned UAF’s failure to send a male trainer to handle female athletes, who accused coach Peter Wemali of sexually harassing them.
Meanwhile, reigning Africa triple-jump queen US-based Sarah Nambawa was dropped from the provisional travelling team to pave way for the women’s 4X400m relay team that will comprise Winnie Nanyondo, Emily Nanziri, Lenia Shida and Halima Nakaayi.
Four male runners Thomas Ayeko, Philip Kipyeko, Jimmy Adar and Fredrick Chemonges also missed the cut.
