After successfully organizing the East and Central rowing championships early this year, the Uganda Rowing Federation have gone one better by organising a European tour between July and September.
“We want this to be a learning process for the athletes and to also help them improve their times”, said Roderick Muhumuza the national rowing coach. “It will also help them be better prepared for the Olympic qualifiers next year”. The FISA(International Rowing Federation) regional educator added .
The tour is expected to start on 18th July till 8th September with different age-categories expected to participate in the different European city venues. A team of 12 has been assembled and expected to compete in the different events.
Europe Tour venues and dates:
World Rowing U23 championship: 18th -25th -July, ITALY
Commonwealth championship: 8th – 9th August, GLASGOW
World Rowing Junior championship: ( 18 and below) 15th-21st August, HAMBURG
World Rowing senior championship: 28th August – 8th September, AMSTERDAM
