The Southern Motor Club challenge rally gets underway this Saturday with a Super Special Stage at Festino City in Mukono with the biggest challenge expected between Ronald Sebuguzi and Jonas Kansiime.

Sebuguzi leads the National Rally Championship (NRC) standings with 251 points after three rounds while Kansiime follows closely in second with 208 points.

With third placed Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru (185pts) deciding not to participate in this event as he prepares for the Mountain Gorilla Rally in Rwanda, the duo have an opportunity to extend leads at the top.

Sebuguzi opens the route as he ranks highly and has more points and will be under pressure from Kansiime who will chase him in second.

Nevertheless, the duo won’t have it just against each other but also face stiff competition from Shafik Semujju, Dr. Ashraf, Leila Mayanja, Omar Mayanja and Wycliffe Mayanja among others.

Last year’s NRC winner Jas Mangat and Ponsiano Lwakataka who won this event last year are likely to miss the event.

After Festino City, the 319km rally will head to competitive sections in districts of Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso and Luweero the Sunday.
