2015 AFCON Qualifiers second preliminary 1st leg
Uganda Vs Mauritania – Mandela Stadium, Namboole
Saturday July 19, 2014
Cranes coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has omitted midfielder Tonny Mawejje, defender Henry Kalungi and striker Daniel ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma from the squad that will face Mauritania in the 2015 AFCON qualifier 1st leg at Namboole.
In a press briefing at the FUFA Headquarters in Mengo, Micho who has beefed up his squad that started preparations a couple weeks left out the trio for various reasons.
In his explanation, the Serb said that Mawejje has been left out as he is working on a move to transfer from Haugesund, Kalungi has issues with his Visa as he seeks move to South Africa’s PSL whilst Sserunkuma awaits a move to Denmark.
Besides the trio, other notable exclusion from the squad is Turkey based Martin Mutumba Kayongo and left fullback Alex Kakuba plus midfielder Hassan Wasswa.
Tusker FC midfielder Aucho Khalid is also named as he is serving a suspension for accumulating two yellow cards in the previous round against Madagascar.
Skipper Andrew Mwesigwa, goalies Denis Onyango and Robert Odongkara, midfielders William Luwagga Kizito, Moses Oloya, Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito and Mike Azira plus Gor Mahia defender Godfrey Walusimbi are the new additions to the squad.
Azira returns for the first time since his inclusion in the team that faced Senegal in the penultimate game of the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Marrakesh Morocco late last year whilst Walusimbi returns from suspension.
