On his debut as Rugby Cranes Captain Brian Odong guided Uganda to the Confederation of the African Rugby Tier One C in Morocco last month.

Odong has a chance of restoring Uganda’s pride in seven days time when he leads Uganda out of the tunnel in the return leg of the Elgon Cup against Kenya in Nairobi. Of course the Rugby Cranes take a seven point lead to Nairobi with them after winning the first leg 21-14.

“Going into the next leg we are going to do the same things be tighter in defense and put on some points,” Odong told kawowo Sports. “We shall work on many strategies kicking is one of them, then general game play and we shall bring back the Elgon cup,” he promised.

Though Odong speaks with too much confidence going onto the return he confesses that the first leg didn’t come on a silver platter. “We knew the game was always going to be hard with tough battles.”

“First few minutes were for testing ourselves we rethought our strategy and decided to refocus and put on the points. At the end of the day it worked for us,” he added.

Uganda can win a hat-trick if the U19 boys can defend their 15-10 point lead and the women overturn a 33-15 deficit.
