After conquering Lugazi over the weekend in the City Tyres U14 Chenga Challenge regional qualifiers played at Metha Stadium, SCOUL FC is now bracing themselves for the national finals in Masaka later in August.
SCOUL came from behind 2-1 to beat Kiyunga Youths 3-2 in an exciting final game that so much entertained the huge crowds that graced the games owing to a fast passing game played by the two sides.
As regional champions, SCOUL walked away with UShs 700,000/= and a trophy courtesy of City Tyres the tournament sponsors as Kiyunga youth also won themselves UShs 300,000/= as runners up. SCOUL along with the other 10 regional winners will face off in Masaka.
Individual winners included Kiyunga Youths’ pair Samuel Draba (Best Goal Keeeper) and Eric Kalumba (Top Scorer with 6 goals) and SCOUL’s Geofrey Ndabazange (MVP).
The organisers technical committee selected a team of 11 players who out shone the rest in the competions and to them Eddie Butindo a director of FOF, City Tyres partners disclosed an oppoprtunity of making the team to tour Rwanda in December.
The best 11 were; Samuel Draba , Richard Afoyo , Juma Gale, Simon Okumu, Gerald Kaddu, Eric Kakumba, John Cocus, Geofrey Ndabazange , Dan Kaliga , Neymar Mugenyi, and Abdul Kalanzi.
Action resumes this Saturday as Mbale Municipal Stadium hosts the Elgon Region qualifiers to make it eight teams
