Skin Samona remained untouchable after winning both of their fixtures last weekend.

On Saturday, the 5 time pool league winners won away, overcoming 2011 champions Volts 12-08 at Out@volts in Makindye before slashing visiting Global.Com 16-04 on Sunday.

Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumisiriza  and the ever green Sula Matovu  scored four games each against Global.Com during the Sunday match.

Isabella/Gals Pool Club remained serious title contenders as they won both weekend games with the 2009 Nation Champion Namanya Fred scoring a winner against Adam Sebbi on Sunday at Casablanca. Isabella/Gals had earlier on Saturday edged Ntinda’s Spice Pool Club 13-07.

Gals Sports Betting CEO, Makume Emma, said that they are ready to push for wins to the end and are hoping to improve their squad during the mid-season.

“This is our first season in pool and we are in second position which is impressive. We shall put up a spirited fight for the title,” added Makume.

The 2012 Senior Pool League Champions Skin Samona have so far played 12 games unbeaten with 43 points.

They are targeting going beyond 15 games unbeaten to surpass Hotpool’s 15 games unbeaten run last season as they chase for their 5th league title.

Skin Samona is just four points ahead of second placed Gals Pool Club with 39 points. In the second round, Skin Samona will aim at keeping the lead and maintaining the unbeaten run.

Through PAU seed one Fahad Sewankambo, seed 3 Alfred Gumisiriza, seed 4 Asuman Bukenya, seed 6 Sula Matovu and seed 7 Amos Ndyagumanawe, Skin Samona is undoubtedly the team to beat this season.

Meanwhile, 2013 Champion Scrap Yard is in the fourth position with 31 points and are hoping to beef up their squad during the mid-season transfer window that starts this week. Globalcom, Volts, Perfection and Capital Night will be struggling to avoid relegation having finished the first round in the last four.

In the PAU Pool League One, Ntinda Pool Club, Lubiri Pub, Indigo and Icon Pool Club Nansana are promotion hopefuls after leading the table respectively.

Ntinda Pool Club, which leads the second division league, hopes to maintain their lead in the second round. Club Icon Disco Theque Director Patrick Semanda is looking at adding two senior players during the transfer window in order to strengthen the Icon Pool Club squad. Icon who beat Jinja’s Ronz 16-4 on Saturday and Indigo 11-9 last Sunday are in fourth position of league one.

“Our prime objective is to see more corporate institutions join the association and create active clubs. We are glad that it is slowly taking shape and we shall continue with our campaign of attracting more institutions.

We appreciate Maga Properties, Club Icon Disco Theque, Gals Sports Betting, CKI Pharmaceuticals and Samona Products that currently own Clubs that are our members.

They are doing a great job of supporting our activities and promoting the sport of pool in the country,” said Mawanda Michael, the PAU Publicist.
