National Insurance Company (NIC)’s netball team glued to the top of the Netball Super League log after trouncing UPDF soldiers over the weekend.

The defending champion defeated the army side with a 37-31 score at Nambole Stadium and guides an eleven-team table with 14points, after seven played games. Prisons netball team who follow in 2nd place with 12 points, whitewashed KCCA with 30-35 score.

In other games played at same venue, Uganda Christian University (UCU) had an excellent weekend after clinching all points from its double header fixture. The Mukono side beat Posta 28-54, before earning a walkover from absentee Kawempe Workers’ team. Kawempe lost 101-18 to Police a week before. Blue Star also clinched a double win after defeating TLC and Maroons 25-43 and 32-39 respectively.

League action will resume this Saturday 2nd August 2014 at Nambole Stadium with seven fixtures.

UCU will be set to rub shoulders with UPDF on court one at 10am before returning against Police at 2pm. Maroons also with a double header will take on Prisons at 10am on court two before Blue star’s engagement at 4pm.

NIC will continue with its title defending race against Kawempe Workers’ team at noon on court one, as KCCA take on TLC on court two at the same time.
