6th Woodball World Cup:
September 5 – 11, 2014
At Luneng Sanya Bay Sports Center, China.
UgandaWoodball Federation (UWbF) is in a desperate pursuit of atleast $ 39415 (about U.sh 99M) to facilitate the 24 players for the 6th Woodball world cup that will take place at the Luneng Sanya Bay Sports Center in China.
“We have managed to mobilize $13,385 (about U.shs 34M) from the team members and the federation members. We appeal to government and corporate entities for any assistance”, John Baptist Kateregga, an administrator with Uganda Woodball Federation says.
The Ugandan team, which has already intensified training ahead of the global championships will compete in Stroke and Fairway competitions.
Previous Competitions
The 1st World Cup Woodball Championship was held in Chinese Taipei, 2nd edition in Malaysia, 3rd in Singapore, 4th in Thailand, and 5th edition in Malacca, Malaysia.
Uganda has competed at the previous two editions; Atamba Onesmus competed in Thailand, Zawedde Lillian, Amuleni Matrida, Namayo Alexandria, Kikatushemeza Shallot, Nabukalu Danilah, Wabuyu Jerry, Atamba Onesmus and Kateregga John Baptist competed in Malaysia.
Our best performance at the World Cup was in 2012, Atamba Onesmus finished 14th overall and Zawedde Lillian finished 15th in the ladies category.
International Refereeing Workshop
At the same meet,UWbF has sent in 4 officials; Isabirye George, Sarah Mpiima, John Kaddu John Bosco and Mr. Kateregga John Baptist will attend an International Refereeing workshop on September 8 and 9, 2014.
