Group A Results (Match day 8)

Rayon Sport (Rwanda) 1-0 KMKM (Zanzibar)

Atlabara (South Sudan) 1-1 Adama City (Ethiopia)

Rwanda’s Rayon Sport are through to the quarter finals of the 2014 Kagame Cup after snatching a 1-0 win over Zanzibar’s KMKM.

Abouba Sibomana scored the only goal from the free kick that earned the Rwanda champions victory which takes them to top of group A with seven points two above second placed Azam FC.

The first half was dominated by the home team but failed to break a resilient KMKM backline marshaled by skipper Khamis Ali Khamis who suffered a career threatening injury at the death of half time.

The game ended level at half time and it took more than half an hour to restart the second half following a heavy downpour that flooded the artificial turf pitch at Kigali Regional Stadium, Nyamirambo.

A foul on skipper Fuadi Ndayisenga on the edge of the area deep into the second half saved the Rwandese as Sibomana’s fierce shot hit the back of the net.

Rayon Sport will now face South Sudan’s Atlabara FC in their last group game on Saturday aiming to consolidate top spot.

In the other group A game, Atlabara drew 1-1 with Adama City with the former taking the lead through Sebit Ajak before substitute Benyam Ayele levelled matters for the Ethiopians.

Only KMKM have confirmed exit at the stage having attained two points from four games.
