It is a dream for every pool player in Uganda to play at the Nile Special national open finals.
As the regional qualifiers climaxed in Kawempe Division over the weekend, several pool players at Eden, Big Zone and DB9 Bars targeted marking their maiden appearances at the big stage.
Among the 128 successful players who will feature at Lugogo is QPA Pool club player, Idd Walusimbi.
Though the player, regarded as the slowest pool player in the country has already played at that big stage on 2 occasions in 2007 and 2010, he successfully made it after a 3 year absence.
“I am very happy to make it once again, but this time as a champion from the qualification center”, Walusimbi, who lost just two games en-route the finals said.

Despite his slow playing tactic, Walusimbi, featuring at DB9 bar in Kalerwe was unstoppable overcoming Andrew Mwebe (at round of 32), Isaiah Wasswa (round of 16) before making it to the last four at the expense of Pauleta Kaweesa.
In the semifinals, Walusimbi stopped Andrew Kayiira 3 – 1 before winning the final with fellow QPA Player, Julius Bogere with an identical scoreline.
At other Kawempe qualifying centers, Herbert Ndugga toppled all at Eden Bar with Ivan Asaba and Tony Seba the other names making it for the national finals.
At Big Zone in Nansana, Patrick Mujuzi was the overall winner after overcoming James Kawooya in the finals while Kayita Lutaaya completed the best three list from that center.
The national finals will take place next month (6th September) at Lugogo indoor arena.
The Pool Association of Uganda (PAU) 8 top seeds join the country wide successful 120 playersto make a total of 128 players who will feature at the national finals.
The event , whose winner will pocket U.shs 2M and a pool table is exclusively sponsored by Beer giants, Nile Breweries under the champion brand, Nile Special lager.
