KCC FC (Uganda) 1-0 APR FC (Rwanda)
Telecom (Djibouti) 2-2 Gor Mahia FC (Kenya)
Uganda’s representatives at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup will face off against South Sudan’s Atlabara FC in the last eight of the competition.
This follows their 1-0 victory over home team APR FC in their penultimate game of the group game played at Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo which saw them pip the Rwanda side to the summit of group B.
Second half substitute Steven Bengo who had replaced Owen Kasule curled home a free kick twenty minutes to the end of the game after a foul on Brian Umony down the left flank.
The home side dominated possession for the entire parts of the game but failed break down a resilient Ugandan side that opted to sit back and play on the counter a move that repaid as they saw out the game.
In an earlier game in the same group, Kenya’s Gor Mahia who were already out of the tournament extinguished Telecom’s hopes of snatching a place in the quarters after holding them to a 2-2 draw.
The Djibouti side went ahead in the first half through Aboubaker Djamal before Timothy Otieno leveled matters for the Kenyan champions eight minutes after restart.
Freddy Adasango put them into the lead again with ten minutes left on the clock but Musa Muhammad netted a 90th minute equaliser for K’Ogalo.
Today’s results mean KCC FC finish top of group B with nine points followed by APR FC on seven while Atletico finish third on six points.
