Three time winners APR FC will aim at playing in their eight Kagame Cup final when they meet fellow forces Police FC in the last semi-final of this year’s edition at Kigali regional stadium, Nyamirambo.

The Rwanda army side winners in 2004, 2007 and 2010 reached the stage after eliminating fellow countrymen and rivals Rayon Sport FC 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 normal time draw while Police FC who are appearing in the competition for the first time won a dramatic shootout 9-8 against Burundi’s Atletico FC following a barren draw.

Ahead of this clash, APR FC Serbian coach Petrovic Ljubomir hailed Police FC’s style of play but reiterated that his side is the best when it comes to that.

“Police is a good team and play good football but we are the best team in this area,” Ljubomir told Kawowo Sports. “I know what it takes and now know every team,” he confidently added.

His counterpart Cassa Andre Mbugo expects a tough tie but believes his side will come out on top. “It will be tough facing familiar opponents in a different competition but am confident we’ll leave victorious”, he said.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

APR FC will rely mostly on the creative midfield duo of ex-Proline FC star Andrew Buteera and Jean Claude Iranzi as they look to penetrate a resilient Police FC side that has only conceded once in four games in the campaign.

The side may also welcome back inspiration defender Emery Bayisenge who has missed the previous two games (Against KCC FC & Atletico FC).

Police FC will hope striker Kipson Atuheire dons his scoring his boots. The number 14 fired blanks in the last game but on his day.

Besides, Jacques Tuyisenge and Sina Jerome plus Jimmy Mbaraga who have been superb in the tourney so far will be key for the cops.
