Tennis player’s in the country and beyond our boundaries are set to battle for $4,500 in cash prizes at the Rak Tie Break Tennis Championship slated for 6-13 September at the Jamal Ramji Centre Court at Lugogo tennis club.
The tournament was officially launched this morning by the main sponsors Rak Ceramics and the eight other co-sponsors on Jinja Road this morning. An initiative of Rak Ceramics and Sanitaryware Limited titled the RAK Tie Break Tennis championship 2014, the players play the best of 3 tie-breaks to decide the winner.
Four categories of Tie-Break Tennis are being organized, Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Boys Singles and Girls Singles(under 18). “It’s a good initiative and we believe it will attract a number of tennis players,” Cedric Babu, the Uganda Tennis Association chairman said. “I will invite the top players from Rwanda and Kenya to come play the tournament.”
The winners in Men’s and Women’s category take home $1,000(sh2.6m) each. The event is organized and overseen by Kinetic Management Group.
Five courts will simultaneously host the matches. All the four finals will be played on 13-September, at the Jamal Ramji Centre Court, followed by the prize giving ceremony.
The main sponsor is Rak Ceramics while the other sponsors are Riham, Quick Color Print, Eye Care Centre, Seyani Brothers, Victoria University HealthCare Centre, Eye Care Centre, Asiatic Sports, Jaffery Forex Bureau Limited, Nawab Restaurant and Aramex.
