Uganda Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi has made a dramatic return to former Tanzania champions Simba SC where he has a six months contract just eight months after signing for rivals Yanga FC.

Okwi joined in Simba SC after the 2008/09 season from SC Villa for $ 40,000 before the Tanzanian side sold him for $ 300,000 to Tunisian club Etoile Du Sahel in 2013.

The temperamental striker however failed to settle in Tunisia absconding from duty citing contractual breach something that led him to spend a few months without playing football until the intervention of FIFA.

He joined former club SC Villa in the first half of the 2013/14 season before crossing to Yanga. The Cranes forward featured in eleven games for Yanga scoring five goals before reports leaving the club.

Speaking to Kawowo Sports after signing the deal, Okwi stated he is happy to be back at a club where he enjoyed success and hopes it will be another good spell. “I have signed a 6 month contract with Simba. I am happy to rejoin and look forward to another successful spell,” Okwi told Kawowo Sports.

On why he has left Yanga a few months into his contract, the Cranes star revealed that the club cancelled his contract. “It’s Yanga who ditched me by cancelling my contract,” Okwi stressed. The striker joins compatriot Joseph Owino, Burundians Amis Tambwe and Pierre Kwizera plus Kenyan Mungai Bob Kiongera as the foreign players registered at the club for the next season.
