World Netball Qualifiers:
13th – 20th September 2014
Gaborone, Botswana
The Uganda netball team has been flagged off today for the World cup netball qualifiers amidst unanswered questions how and where the team will be accommodated while in Gaborone, where the tourney is set to take place.
“We are glad for the members of the Ugandan parliament, who contributed 38.5M that has helped us to process air tickets for the trip. We still have pending issues to do with accommodation of the team while in Botswana”, Joclyen Ucanda, the team manager told Kawowo Sports.

National Council of Sports (NCS) contributed U.shs 10M towards the team’s preparations.
Uganda is pooled in group B alongside Namibia, Zambia and Swaziland.
Meanwhile the other group, A has hosts, Botswana, Tanzania, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
12 players will depart Thursday evening aboard Kenyan Airlines for Gaborone in preparation for the world cup qualification matches that start 13th September to the 20th.
The team will be captained by the vastly experienced towering goal attacker, Peace Proscovia, the reigning Uganda Sports Press Association Association (USPA) netballer of the year.
However, two officials – team manager, Joslyn Ucanda and federation boss, Anek Susan Ongom, who were originally supposed to travel with the team, have stayed back as they sort the logistical mess.
The full contingent:
Peace Proscovia (NIC), Desire Birungi Obua (NIC), Hadijah Nakabuye (NIC), Halima Nakachwa (Prisons), Lillian Ajio (Prisons), Alice Nanteza (NIC), Zawadi Beatrice (Police), Susan Atiro (NIC), Florence Amono (Prisons), Annet Nakiwu (UPDF), Florence Nannyonga (Prisons) and Flavia Nalule (Police).
