CAF U-17 Qualifier:
1st Leg Result: Zambia 2 – 0 Uganda

The Uganda U-17 national side lost their maiden game of the 2015 CAF U -17 qualification campaign after a 0 – 2 away loss to the Zambian young Chipolopolo at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Many of the fans back in Kampala were skeptical of the awful general away record for many football fixtures, and majority had predicted doom lest a point.

But the youngsters’ head coach, Matia Lule remains a man of hope prior to the return leg that will be played in Kampala, at a venue yet to be confirmed by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

“We were unlucky not to score at least a consolation given the many chances we created. We shall not lose hope, these are minors who need to be consoled and proved to that a 2 – 0 deficit can be overcome” Lule remarked shortly after the final whistle.

Uganda fell down to a Patson Daka first half goal before Edwin Chipile’s 61st headed effort doubled the lead for the hosts.

Lule’s charges now have to overturn the result with a 3 – 0 result or force a 2 – 0 victory to push the game to the FIFA post match spot kicks.

Uganda missed the services of their team skipper, Andrew Isiagi Okiring, a right full back.

Diego Katumba replaced him and put up a great show in a match Uganda missed several goal scoring opportunities.

The winner between the two nations will qualify to the CAF U-17 finals in Niger come January next year.
