The Uganda Rugby Under 19 ladies team will participate in the Safaricom Sevens due 26-28 September for the first time following the introduction of the new level for this 19th edition of the competition.

This category was developed by the tournament organizers, along with the Kenya Rugby Union as a premier step focused on talent identification and high performance, targeting selection for the national squad.

According to Kenya Rugby Union’s Malik Ndemi, the new set up is geared towards growing the women’s game as well as widening their player base.

The Uganda team currently in preparations for the inaugural competition will face stiff competition from seven other teams that include; Rift Valley, Western,Nyanza,Centr­al, Precious Blood, Maono and Arise.

Coach Allan Musoke who emerged victorious with the Crocs in the 2014 Protector Rugby Super Series, alongside assistant, Brenda Kayiyi will be incharge of the team as they travel to Kasarani, Kenya for the encounters set to be hosted at the Safaricom Stadium.
