Entebbe’s duo of Vincent Byamukama and Deo Akope started their opening round of action at the KCB Golf series final by shooting three over par 74 gross at the Nyali Golf and Country club par 71 course in Nyali, Mombasa.
Towering Dennis Anguyo, returned a score of 8 over par 79 while Opio Onito had a score of ten over par 81 in the grand final that has attracted 54 professional golfers from Uganda, Tanzania and the hosts Kenya. Uganda’s other entrant Fred Wanzala’s results were not posted.
The four day tournament that will see the Professional Golfers of Kenya crown their golfer of the year 2014 has South African based Stefan Andersen leading by three strokes with a score of 67
While Brian Njoroge is second with 70 while the leader in the Order of Merit in the PGK ranks Dismus Indiza is level par 71 in third while Riz Charania is fourth with same score.
The organisers will make a cut of the top 25 golfers with cuts to determine those battling for the kitty of Ksh3m(Ugsh88m) with the winner walking away with Ksh510,000(Ugsh15m).
