FIDE master Harold Wanyama, has signed up with Kenya chess giant KCB chess club to feature for them in major chess tournament’s in Kenya and elsewhere.
“I have signed for them and will be featuring for them in the a number of their events in Kenya starting with the Dayster Open chess championship that starts from September 27-28 in Nairobi, Kenya then I will then participate in the Mombasa Open next month,” Wanyama stated. “It will be the second time that am signing for them 3 years ago I did sign for them, but never featured for them on the boards.”
The deal will cater for his travel, accomodation and also pay him a fee which Wanyama couldn’t disclose.
Wanyama is one of the country’s top chess players who has featured for D-Mark Chess Club, he also was part of the Uganda team that participated in this year’s World Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway.
Wanyama is a Nile Special USPA chess player of the year from 2009, 2010 and 2012. In 2012 he was elevated to a FIDE Master after playing impressively at the World Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey.
