2013 Pool Queen defending champion, Carol ‘Sugar Carol’ Kanzira will face a strong challenge in her quest to defend the pool queen title she won last year.
After being in a group of death with many good players,Kanzira, who will play Nebira Babra in the first round is hopeful of an early surge.
“I know all the girls are in fine shape but i have been training hard to keep my crown”, Kanzira, nicknamed Sugar Carol by the pool fraternity told Kawowo Sports.
According to the draws, should Kanzira pass the opening rounds, she will face seed one Vivian Kagoya in the Quarter finals.
In group B, USPA ladies pool player of the year Ritah Nimusiima won’t play in the the first round after getting bye.
The other tough players are Nakiyembe Sarah, Kaku Janet, Rehema Nanyondo, Mutesi Judith, Ayembazi Lydia and many more.
Angella Busingye who has been on ban for the last 3years is also in also in Group B and will be playing unknown Teddy Windy in the first round.
Angella was banned after an unsportsman conduct which forced the PAU disciplinary committee to ban her for 3 years in all PAU competitions. She was one of the best players and in 2011 she won the Easter cup championship ladies category.
In group A, Nambafu Zainabu and Namyanja Vicky will be the key players while two time pool queen winner Jacinta Kajubi who has just won the top seeds championship (Ladies category) will also be one of group A favorites.
This year’s championship attracted 64 ladies from different parts of the country like Masaka, Jinja and Mbarara.
“We want to make this championship big and better and l believe we shall reach our Goals” said Farouk Wamala Kisuze PAU Chairman.
“This is going to help us to see which players we can include in our team that is going to participate in All Africa pool championship in Dar es saalam and Scotland” added Kisuze.
The winner will walk away with 1 million shillings and one pool table for this Pool Association of Uganda sponsored the event.
