Las Vegas based professional lightweight Sharif “Lion” Bogere, will return to the ring against Philippines journeyman Aaron Melgarejo on October 30, as the co-main event on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Deportes’ Golden Boy Live! series will be held at Plymouth, Massachusetts’ Plymouth Memorial Hall.

Bogere made a come back in June against Miguel Zamudio, who retired in the 8th round in a 8 round non-title fight. Bogere will make seek back to back wins after recovering from long term achilles tendon injury that has fully recovered now.

The unknown Melgarejo (17-7-1, KO 6) will be up against highly rated lightweight Bogere (25-1, KO 17) in a 10 Round lightweight match up. “I don’t want to write off the Filipino journeyman. It’s not my type. But it seems to me that he has nothing to do in the same ring against Bogere,” the Ugandan boxer told the Shuttlepenboxing.com

“Although this is a big opportunity for Melgarejo to become a legit contender at lightweight if he beat Bogere. But the possibility for him to pull this up seemed so skinny. Anyhow, you know, in boxing, nothing is impossible. One punch can change everything.”

Bogere is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions that is owned by boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya. He is one of the most acclaimed and most sought after fighters in his weight division.
