TP Mazembe (DRC) 3-2 ES Setif (Algeria) – ES Setif win on away goals rule as the two tie 4-4 on aggregate.
Algerian side, ES Setif ensured there won’t be an all DR Congo final in the 2014 Orange CAF Champions League by edging TP Mazembe despite a 3-2 loss on Sunday in Lubumbashi.
The Algerians advanced at the expense of TP Mazembe on away goals rule following a 4-4 aggregate tie as they managed to net twice away from home yet the DRC side only managed it once in Algiers.
The former African champions, Mazembe led 2-1 at half time but were undone by substitute Sifiane Younes’s late strike that tilted the tide in favour of the visitors.
ES Setif took the lead as early as nine minutes through Abdelmalek Ziaya but TP Mazembe equalised 12 minutes late thanks Daniel Nii Adjei goal before Malian Salif Coulibaly headed the hosts into the lead for the first time seven minutes before recess.
After recess, TP Mazembe made it 3-1 through Jonathan Bolingi after brilliant work by Tanzanian Mbwana Samatta but with 15 minutes to the final whistle, substitute Younes chipped the ball over Kidiaba for ES Setif’s second which put them through to the finals.
Setif will face AS Vita in the final where a monetary prize of $1.5 million and a ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco in December awaits the winner.
AS Vita Club edged Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien 4-2 on aggregate with Cranes striker Yunus Sentamu among the goal scorers for the DR Congo club.
