Sports Club Villa Jogoo has parted ways with coach Steven Bogere on mutual consent.
The shocking development comes in the aftermath of the 16 time league record winners’ 2-1 loss at Kavumba to the Uganda Premier Premier league leaders, Police on Tuesday.
Sam Ssimbwa is set to be unveiled as the next head coach for the club on Wednesday morning at the club’s home in Lungujja, Kampala.
“Bogere is going for further managerial course”, the club’s PRO Swaibu Raul Kanyike told Kawowo Sports.
Sam Ssimbwa is rumored to be the next coach in line.
Bogere’s sacking comes at a time when new Club President, Ben Misagga is at the helm of the administration at the historic club.
Misagga had warned Bogere in the pre-season about performance. When SC Villa lost to Masindi in one of the build-ups, Misagga openly told Bogere that he never tolerates losses in his life.
“If we lose again, I will sack you”, Misagga echoed to Bogere back then in July. Just minutes after the loss to Police, news started circulating about the sack of Bogere.
Sam Ssimbwa had been rumored for a Villa take over in a long time.Perhaps, deeply rooted SC Villa die-hards had at first rejected Ssimbwa’s arrival at Villa Park, labeling him a staunch KCC fan who could not handle Villa issues.
He joins the team at a critical moment in time when they face Uganda Revenue Authority on Friday.
THE CONSPIRACIES:
Inside sources at the club have been waiting for Bogere’s lapse to see him out of the club. The Police loss was a blessing in disguise for many with that school of thought.
“Bogere was a brilliant footballer, but never a coach who could handle a club of Villa’s magnitude”, a club insider, who preferred anonymity on grounds of fearing being reprimanded told Kawowo Sports.
Several club loyalists have been also questioning Bogere’s tactics and his insistence on donning Sports Club Victoria’s jersey during SC Villa matches and training sessions.
“Bogere was unprofessional to put on another club’s jersey with their logo during official Villa duties”, Jeremiah Migadde, a staunch SC Villa fan based in Kawempe adds.
Last season, Bogere had resigned in March citing non payments to the players and his coaching department but club fans convinced him to stay and save the team from the jaws of relegation.
SC Villa finished 7th last season and are now 3rd on 6 points behind joint leaders, Police and Bright Stars (on 7 points) with three matches played.
