Uganda’s technical department has named a strong squad of 24 for the national team duty against Togo for the 11th October 2014 at Namboole Stadium.
On-form SC Villa striker, Karim Ndugwa, defender Fred Nkata and Kira Young left winger, Baker Lukooya are the new faces called to the senior side as Simba’s Emmanuel Okwi and Gor Mahia’s Dan Sserunkuma left behind for the Ghana and Guinea games return to the fold.
AS Vita striker, Yunus Sentamu, University of Pretoria striker, Geofrey Massa and KCC forward, Brian Umony are the other strikers on the team.
There are 4 goal keepers on the team, Benjamin Ochan (Victoria University), Ismail Watenga (Vipers), Robert Odongkara (St George) and Denis Onyango (Sundowns) make the team.
Others are the usual suspects; Tonny Mawejje, Moses Oloya, Godfrey Walusimbi, Denis Iguma, Andrew Mwesigwa (team captain),Isaac Isinde, Aucho Khalid and Brian Majwega.
However, there is no place for Yanga African’s striker, Deigo Hamis Kizza and URA’s Robert Sentongo. The latter scored Uganda’s away goal against Mauritania in the previous round of qualifiers.
The squad was released by Uganda Cranes Assistant coach, Kefa Kisala who represented the head coach, Micho.
Micho is away in Egypt, attending to the Africa courses symposium where review of the Africa’s teams performance at the 2014 World Cup is the key aspect.
Training for the Cranes players starts on the 5th October, just 6 days before the match day.
