Apart from the treasure hunting among the shells and walks along the shores, rugby fans have yet another chance to have a time of their lives when the Nile Special Beach Rugby Carnival takes centre stage on Saturday at Entebbe Sports Beach.

The annual event has attracted famed musicians who are to entertain enthusiasts as several rugby teams vie for the top prize. Among the musicians that have confirmed attendance include 5 time PAM Award winner Daniel Kigozi aka ‘Navio’ and Diva Awards winner Cinderella Sanyu aka ‘Cindy’.

The one day tournament was not held the previous year due to the rescheduling of the rugby season by the Uganda Rugby Union (URU). Nile Breweries and International Air Ambulance (IAA) have sponsored this edition set to involve ten teams comprising four fans and at least two females.

The overall winner will walk away with one million shillings prize money, while first and second runners up will be worth Seven hundred fifty and five hundred thousand respectively.

The ten teams will be guided by popular rugby players as each outfit gets along the day pumping music and adrenaline.

Michael Wokorach will be captain of one of the sides after scoring a handful of tries that elevated the Uganda Rugby Cranes sevens team to the Shield final of the Safaricom Sevens in Kenya last weekend.

Justin Kimono, Marvin Odong, Micheal Wandera, Dennis Mugambe, Gabriel Aredo, Charlotte Mudoola, Timothy Bulooti, and John Wandicho will also take charge of other teams each, along with new Kobs recruit Adnan Mutebi, from Impis RFC and Pirates fly half Ivan Magomu.

Besides Rugby and performing artists, fans will participate in the passing cage challenge and dash for cash.
