6th Uganda Woodball Open
11th – 12th October 2014
MUBS, Nakawa

The focus for many woodball players in the country is targeted at the forthcoming 6th Uganda Open Woodball Championship.

The event, the biggest on the local woodball calendar will take place on the 11th-12th of October 2014 at the MUBS – Nakawa fairways.

“ Competition will start at 9:00am on both days. Teams will have stroke and fairway competition with the preliminary rounds happening on Saturday, September 11, 2014”, John Baptist Kateregga, an administrator with Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) told Kawowo Sports.

Among the confirmed teams are Ndejje University, Ndejje Woodball Club, Busitema University, Bishop Stuart University, Entebbe Woodball Club, Botladz Woodball Club, Kyambogo College School, Nkumba University, MUBS, International University of East Africa, and Uganda Christian University.

Ndejje University are the defending champions in both the women and men’s Team categories. Ndejje University’s Adupa Joel and Zawedde Lillian won the Men and Women’s Singles categories respectively at the last outing in 2013.

The duo will however face a stiff challenge from other promising woodball players who have lived to send shock waves on the woodball front since the game was introduced in Uganda 6 years ago.

Onesmas Atamba and Shamsa Nantege are two players that Adupa and Zawedde should be wary of.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
