The 6th Uganda Woodball Open:

Overall Winners:

Men: Ndejje Univerity Team A

Ladies: Ndejje Woodball Club

Ndejje University had a lion’s share of accolades at the 6th Uganda Woodball open played the Makerere University Business school (MUBS) fairways in Nakawa.

Ndejje University won the overall men team trophy with Ndejje Woodball club taking the ladies’ accolade.

In the singles, it was the Ndejje dominance once again with Onesmus Atamba returning 99 strokes to beat all the men while Lillian Zawedde scored 115 strokes to win the ladies’ catergory.

Doubles and Mixed Doubles:

The pair of Denis Mitali and Kayima Rogers from the hosts, MUBS took the best doubles men with 47 strokes beating the Ndejje University duo of Denis Ssekidde and Collins Kamoga.

Ndejje University avenged in the ladies’ doubles, winning by a slim 2 strokes’ victory.

Joan Mukoova and Victoria Nankabirwa combined to win with 60 strokes beating second placed Ndejje Woodball club’s Danilah Nabukalu and Shamsa KyolabaNantege (62 strokes).

Fairway Competition:

Ndejje University duo of Ronald Kawumba and Lillian Zawedde took the best singles accolades for the highly competitive fairway event.

This year’s event drew participants from Entebbe Woodball Club, Bishop Stuart University, Botladz Woodball Club, Muteesa I Royal University, UCU Rwandan Woodball Club, UCU, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi, International University of East Africa, Busitema University, MUBS, Ndejje Woodball Club, Ndejje University, Nkumba University, Kyambogo College School, St. Mark’s College Namagoma, and Bank of Uganda.

Promising Start:

Debutants, St. Joseph’s Technical Institute Kisubi put up a great showing on their maiden appearance – playing the semi finals of the fairway event.

Credit to the Kisubi based institute team members; Charles Sensalo, Ibra Kawuki, and Pellucy Kyaligonza.

The next event on the Uganda Woodball Federation (UWbF) Calendar is the 3rd Beach Woodball circuit that will be held at Entebbe Sports Beach on the 9th November 2014.
