Simba SC 2-2 URA FC

Simba’s Alex Witaba’s strike at the death denied a 10 man Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) football club side  their first season start of the 2014/15 Uganda Premier League season at the Bombo Military Stadium on Saturday.

The two sides played to a two all draw in a thrilling 4 goal encounter. After a goal-less first half, the match livened up when Isaac Kasujja Onyango put the hosts ahead with a 50th minute strike.

9 minutes later, URA’s Emmanuel Ngama was sent off for an early shower for dangerous play but the visitors, who are still win-less in 4 games fought gallantly until the 80th minute when Elunkana Nkugwa’s goal put them at par with the footballing soldiers.

Frank Kalanda struck a 90th minute penalty to give URA FC a shock lead but the home team, desperate to avoid another slip up at home quickly replied with a Alex Witaba’s strike in added time.

The draw not only piles more pressure on the URA technical bench and players but also casts more lingering questions on head tactician, Alex Isabirye.

URA, who are set to host another win-less side, Sports Club Victoria University on Tuesday are languishing in the relegation zone in the 14th position with just 3 points off 4 games.

Simba remain 7th on the 16 team log with 7 points picked from 6 outings. The Uganda Premier league resumes Tuesday.
