Uganda professional golfers Deo Akope and Dennis Anguyo’s trip to take part in the MENA Golf tour in the Middle East is in balance with the golfers yet to get clearance from Saudi Arabia for travelling visas.
“We are still trying to get visa’s at least to play the last event that is in Saudi Arabia, but are yet to hear from our ambassdor in that country,” Akope lamented. “We have already missed one event that is the Ghala Valley Golf Club event that has teed off in Oman.”
The Ghala Valley Golf Club tournament started yesterday(Sunday) in Oman, Middle East while the last event they want to take part in is the American Express Dirab Golf Championship at the Dirab Golf and Country Club that is set from October 26-29 in Saudi Arabia.
The two professional golfers who are based at the Uganda Golf Club where set to make there second attempt at the MENA Golf tour having played in last year’s tour, but missing the cut.
The Tour’s mission to develop amateurs who represent their countries is the catalyst needed to encourage more people to take up golf. The region needs golfers.
Regardless of whether they come from within or outside the region. What matters is to build momentum, which is what the MENA Golf Tour provides and strives for.
The Tour is open to all MENA national and international professionals and amateurs.
