El Merriekh 3-1 El Hilal

Ugandan goalie Jamal Salim Magoola was in top form helping his side El Merriekh beat rivals El Hilal 3-1 to clinch the Sudan Cup (Sudan’s version of FA Cup/ Uganda Cup) on Sunday.

Hilal went ahead through Bakri AbdelGadir before Abdullah Dufor leveled matters for El Merriekh.

Jamal’s moment came after the break when he saved a penalty from Senegalese Cisse to keep the game level immediately after the break before goals from Ayman Saeed and Raji Abdelatti made it 2-1 and 3-1 respectively for the Omdurman based club.

The title is the club’s 9th in the history of the competition and their second in a row after winning it last year.

The championship is Jamal’s second since joining the club after he also won the CECAFA Kagame Cup in September in Kigali.

The former U-20, Express FC and KCC FC custodian can also complete a treble if the side win the Sudan League where they sit second on the log four points behind Hilal albeit with a game in hand.

They must however win all their remaining three games and hope Hilal drop points.
