Vipers SC 2-2 KCC FC

Vipers SC came from down on two occasions to snatch a 2-2 draw from the jaws of defeat at the hands of champions Kampala City Council FC in a Uganda Premier League match played at Buikwe.

Brian Majwega put the visitors into the lead as early as the 4th minute when he met Isaac Ntege’s cross which goalie Ismail Watenga failed to handle but the hosts equalised five minutes later through Mike Mutyaba after he dribbled past a forest of legs in the KCC FC backline before he slotted the ball past Emmanuel Opio into the net.

It took KCC FC just four minutes to get in front again with Brian Umony getting on the score sheet after getting at the end of Paul Mucerezi’s brilliant through pass.

Both sides had chances to score more before half time but good goal keeping from either goalkeeper ensured the first half ended 2-1 for KCC FC.

After recess, both coaches made changes with Nsimbe the first to react bringing on winger Michael Birungi for Mucurezi and later Derrick Nsibambi for goal scorer Brian Umony whilst Golola brought on Daniel Oyirowth for the tired Vincent Kayizzi.

Vipers SC pressed hard at the moment with KCC FC sitting back and resorting to counter attacking strategy.

Vipers SC pressure paid off in the 65th minute when Mutyaba tapped home into an empty net after a goal melee that saw the visitors’ defenders failing to clear.

With picking maximum points now on Golola and his charges’ mind, he introduced Allan Kyambadde for Ibrahim Saddam Juma but the visitors held on for a draw.

A point now sees Vipers SC go 4th on the 16 team log with 10 points from four games whilst KCC FC are 11th with five from same games played.

REACTIONS:

Edward Golola – Vipers SC Coach

“We have a young team and am impressed with the character they showed coming from down on two occasions. Its sad we have lost our 100% record but at the end of the day, it was a point gained than two lost.

George Nsimbe – KCC FC coach

We made costly mistakes in the defence and wasted a lot of chances. It was a game we had to win. It’s a disappointing result for us yet again but we shall keep working hard.
