2nd Runners up: Nile Breweries Limited
Jinja based company, Bidco Uganda Limited are the 2014 Baba fm Jinja Corporate league football champions.
Bidco, who finished unbeaten fetched 42 points from 16 games played, winning 13 and drawing just 3 successfully defend their trophy they won in 2013.
“We have worked tirelessly for this achievement. I thank the company for positively incorporating sports on their agenda. I congratulate all my team mates for the spirited display all season long” Umar Mukiibi, the team skipper remarked.
Mukiibi, voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) had a great impact on Bidco’s triumph.
Advanced Tours Limited finished runners up of the 17 teams that took part in the 7 month tournament that brings together several corporate companies in Jinja Municipality.
“The tournament was basically put up to help the company workers get a breather off their usually busy work schedules by keeping fit as well as networking among themselves” Steven Balyeku, Executive Director of Baba F.M, the major sponsor of the tournament.
“This second edition has been a success and I credit all the players and companies for the high level of organization. We plan to introduce Tag rugby in the next edition” Joseph Mutaka, the league liaison officer told Kawowo Sports.
Goal Galore in the League:
444 goals were scored in the 105 games played by all the 17 companies that took part.
Sunset Hotel’s Enock Engola finished as top scorer with 17 goals while Umar Mukiibi (Bidco) and Aldon Walukamba (Busoga Sports Press Association) finished with 15 and 14 goals respectively.

The heaviest league defeat happened to Stanbic Bank, after their 0 -11 humiliation to champions, Bidco Uganda Limited.
Women in the league:
Each team in the Jinja corporate league was required to use atleast during the entire game played.
Erina Talye of Jinja Municipal Council (JMC) finished the women’s top scorer with 5 goals while Shakirah Biharimana of Busoga Sports Press Association capped the tourney with 4 goals including that eye catching goal against champions, Bidco on the last day of the season.
