Kampala City Council Football Club (KCC FC) maybe without striker Brian Umony for the rest of the season after he left for trials in Thailand for a yet to be named club.
This was confirmed by Coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe according to the club’s official website who revealed the trials will take two weeks.
“He is out of the country for trials in Thailand for at least two weeks,” Nsimbe told www.kccafc.co.ug. “He is very important to our campaign but we also wish him all the best in his endeavors,” he added.
Umony has scored two goals in three Uganda Premier League games this season and was absent as the champions beat SC Victoria University 3-0 at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
In 2012, Umony who was in his second stint at KCC FC joined Azam FC of Tanzania a few games into the season and it appears history will be repeating itself.
Then, KCC FC signed Herman Wasswa from SC Villa in the January 2013 window and the striker filled the void by scoring 11 goals to secure the title for the side.
It is likely a signing will be done given the wealth of attacking talent at Nsimbe’s disposal at the moment.
Derrick Nsibambi, Paul Mucureezi, William Wadri and Wasswa are expected to carry on the goal scoring burdens as Nsimbe stresses.
There is no denying the fact that he is our senior centre forward but we’re covered with good replacements. Herman (Wasswa), William (Wadri), Derrick (Nsibambi) and Paul (Mucureezi) can ably fill the void.
