Former Uganda Cranes assistant coach, Sam Timbe and the Gor Mahia duo of Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito and Daniel ‘Muzei’ Sserunkuma are set to smile to the podium in the Kenyan Premier League awards.
The trio have been nominated for various awards set to held in Nairobi at a date yet to be mentioned. Since Sserunkuma’s 16 goals elevate him above the chasing pack, he is a sure winner for the top scorer’s award.
Footballer of the year: Midfield ace, Geofrey ‘Baba’ Kizito is in the running for the top player’s award of the season in the league alongside Anthony Ndolo (Sofaka), Stephen Waruru (Ulinzi) and Tusker’s Monday Osborne.
Gor mahia’s goal keeper, Jerim Onyango, Robert Mboya (of Mathare United) are among the nominees for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.Others are Chemelil Sugar’s Jairus Adira, Samuel Odhiambo (Tusker) and Sony Sugar’s Lucas Indeche.
Congolese defender, Felly Mulumba has been nominated in the defender of the year category for the second year in a row.
Midfielder: Ugandan, Geofrey Kizito, once again returns to the fold to vie for the best midfielders’ gong alongside Brian Osumba, Ndolo and AFC Leopards’ Humphrey Mieno.
Best Coach: Sam Timbe (Sofaka) will tussle it out with Francis Baraza (Muruhoni), Robert ‘The Lion’ Matano (Ulinzi Stars) and Tusker’s Francis Kimanzi for the tactician of the season.
The Winners in all the categories will be unveiled at a gala night on a date yet to be confirmed.
