Equatorial Guinea has hired 50 Cuban doctors as part of preparations to safe guard against the deadly Ebola disease. According to African Sport, the West African nation, who came in to rescue CAF at the last minute after Morocco pulled out due to fear of the Ebola disease.

The national Ebola watchdog body in Malabo and the Cuban embassy has signed an agreement to recruit “50 Cuban doctors for three months” with a view to tightening procedures in the run-up to the January championships.

The doctors are expected to arrive in the next few days, government television is reported by African Sport as having said:

The national Ebola awareness and monitoring committee has recommended that visa applications from anyone who has travelled in countries already affected by the Ebola virus should be turned down and they should be refused entry to Equatorial Guinea.

Equatorial Guinea has so far not reported a single case of Ebola within the country. Several African nations are in the final stages of determining the final 6 nations that qualify to the biennial football fiesta.

Uganda will be hosted in Morocco by Guinea in a decisive group E fixture that will be hosted at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca City. Guinea has hosted all their games in Morocco because there was a reported Ebola outbreak in Guinea.
