Nile Special Uganda Rugby Premiership: Week 6 – Impis Vs Sadolin Mongers at 5:00pm
Sadolin Mongers take to Makerere Rugby Grounds aka Graveyard on Saturday to battle Impis in a highly anticipated encounter expected to gather a large number of home fans, who apparently remain the sole reason why Impis have one win in five.
The last time Impis were at home, Ezee Money Rhinos did not live to feel the joy of victory. The University side dominated the proceedings, they finally emerged top, courtesy of the home fans who cheered relentlessly until the final whistle of the match.
And based on this seasons statistics, Mongers have only played away from home once, and were edged 14-13 by Ezee Money Rhinos at Legends despite leading for the whole of the first half.
They have also been impressive at home in Entebbe having defeated Buffaloes, Kobs, Pirates and drew with Heathens 10-10 in four home encounters, but by the time Rhinos went to Makerere, they were unbeaten and eventually lost.
However Monger’s Coach Robert Powell told Kawowo Sports that his side have greatly improved and ought to offer a great challenge ahead of the Christmas break later this December.
If we have 25 points next to our name at Christmas time, then i expect some recognition will be coming Monger’s way. Compare Monger’s start this season to last, I only took over as Coach on the first day of the season and they lost the first 5 games in a row. This time around they are showing their potential and the benefit of proper training and a game plan tailored to their core skills.
Mongers have truly impressed in the scrummaging this season, and fans ought to expect much of the same on the weekend. Adrian Wasswa who has scored three penalties and a conversion brace along with Andrew Olweny and Simon Wakabi will need to maintain consistency ahead of the tie.
Impis on the other hand suffered a set back in their last outing against Mutoni Warriors, but inspiration and 8th man Mike Opio,Henry Nsekuye, center Raymond Kasule, captain Daniel Ortega and Dembe Joel must bounce back stronger and with rhythm if the side is to get a result.
The university side heads for this, their sixth encounter with only one win in five matches. They are good on the counter and often use the wings that they used to hurt Rhinos. Their main task will be organization in the scrummaging as Mongers prove to have mastered the art.
