Friday January 2, 2015 Azam FC (Tanzania) Vs KCC FC (Uganda) – Aman Stadium @ 5pm
Uganda’s league champions KCC FC open their Mapinduzi Cup defence on Friday afternoon when they face Tanzania’s Azam FC in Zanzibar.
The fixture is a repeat of the friendly played close to two weeks ago in Kampala which KCC FC won 2-0 with goals from Herman Wasswa and Brian Umony.
Highlight of the fixture
The biggest highlight of the encounter will be former KCC FC midfielder Brian Majwega and coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe facing their old side in a competitive fixture.
Nsimbe is assistant to Cameroonian John Omog while Majwega is expected to start on the left side of attacking midfield.
Majwega’s first game for Azam was against KCC FC albeit a friendly at Lugogo and will be eager to show what his former side misses.
Before departure, KCC FC Coach Abdallah Mubiru made it clear that their goal is not only to defend the crown but also prepare for the CAF Champions League.
“We want to win Mapinduzi and that must start with winning group fixtures. Besides, we are using this tourney as preparations for our CAF Champions League engagements,” Mubiru told Kawowo Sports
