Falcons Basketball Club will be renamed StarTimes Falcons in the 2015 Basketball season. Thanks to juicy sponsorship deal entered into with StarTimes DTV.
Friday Kagoro, Falcons’ chairman was delighted at the signing of the deal that will be in excess of Uganda Shillings 250 Million and thanked StarTimes for the package.
“I thank StarTimes for the good gesture they have accorded to Falcons” he said at the press conference. “As the record champions we have always striven to be at the fore front of basketball’s growth and partnering with StarTimes which has the love for the game it self allows us to continue the march towards the goals envisioned by our founder John Simbwa (RIP)” Kagoro added.
Falcons’ captain, Steven Omony echoed Kagoro and said this was new dawn for the Falcons. “I think this is new direction we will be taking as a team and partnering with StarTimes is really a huge thing for us not just as players but also getting back in line with the founding goal that we set as Falcons.”
StarTimes Marketing Director, Aldrine Nsubuga said they were proud to be associated with champions and were convinced by the level of organisation and the passion of fans and rate at which the game has grown.
“Falcons has the biggest name in local basketball as the record champions and StarTimes is huge player in the pay televsion industry. This co-branding is a dream for the company, our customers and the club with its fans”
Under the partnership, Falcons and StarTimes will collaborate on a number of projects such as the university, college and schools talent development and community basketball as the TV company looks towards taking over the local game.
“We have started with Falcons but our interest is to take over complete ownership of local basketball.” Nsubuga said.
