Uganda Swimming Federation is set to hold a clinic/camp for the federations officials at the Olympia Hostel, Kikoni, Makerere that will be conducted by Senior FINA facilitator Richard Powers from January 12-21.

It will be the third time that American Powers will be in the country as he sets to up-grade the status of swimming officials for the Uganda Swimming Federation, but before the camp is set up the federation will a FINA Level 1 Swimming Coaches Course that will be held at Hotel African from January 10-12.

The basis for recognition of USF coaches and officials who must sit and pass Fina examinations at the end of both courses. The certificates are expected to run for a period of two years before one can seek renewal.

“Officiation has been a sore thumb sticking out for long but we are hoping to purge this with the introduction of an Official List of USF Officials this year. Officials will be required to undergo continuous training and appraisal. Fina does it this way and as such we wish not to re-invent the wheel,” Moses  Mwase, the Uganda Swimming Federation general secretary told the Daily Monitor.
