As UPL transfer window gathers some pace, League debutant as Lweza FC are not seated. They are making amends as this is usually the time for teams in relegation to seize this short period by desperately papering the cracks.

In contrast, clubs who are having a successful season will rarely be seen in the market, though those fighting for survival like the Orange men will do the opposite- breaking money safes and making use of cheque books to make couple of signings.

Arthur Semazzi returns home, Nigerian import Ono Rafael arrives but Geoffrey Sserunkuma’s acquisition caught the attention of many. The mammoth Lweza fans also need recognition in this contest since they always want to see their team winning all day and it looks like cheerfulness lies head of them when the second round resumes next month.

All the relative success the club registered in the first round was a down to cluster of players. Scarcity of goals and league inexperience were also disasters of their own.

The lone ranger in the team Mike Sserumaga re-affirmed to Kawowo Sports a particular fact after Lweza’s gusty goalless draw with Kira Young at their home ground in Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku in December last year.
The team is not performing well at the moment because the of the type of players we field. They lack league experience and that can be evidenced by the way the boys miss a lot of chances in front of a goal. But I think the mangers have also witnessed that problem and will react by making a couple signings when the league goes into recess. We need an experienced and proven striker most
The arrival of Geoffrey Sserunkuma looks exactly what ‘the priest’ prayed for last year. The former Vasco da gama striker owns two of Mike Sserumga’s concerns. That is “League experience and a proven striker” and when you get chance to talk to the Shirt No.10 forward, you can see a ‘yeah alright’ falling from the sky. The duo was once Uganda Police FC players.

Similar to the new recruit Sserunkuma, he promises to give his best to his new pay masters.
I have absolutely no doubt that I’m very fortunate to have engineered this move. I will give my best to the club.
His league experience is unquestionable having plied his trade in Uganda police F.C (2002-2003), KCCA F.C (2004-2006) before joining the paid ranks in Ethiopia and South Africa respectively.

The eagerly- awaited goal scoring role though hit another course as Arthur Ssemazi reversed homeward after his embarrassing short stint with Kenyan giants, Gor Mahia.

For further notice, the influx of the two forwards will give newly appointed coach Hamza Kalanzi a tough job choosing who to lead the line.

The tactician is an ardent tutor of a 4-5-1 formation which means he employs alone striker up front. Now he has three at his exposure in Fred Kalanzi, Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Arthur Ssemazi.

The trio make a tricky puzzle for the coach. Pint sized Fred Kalanzi was the club’s top scorer in the first round, Arthur Ssemazi’s exploits in Big league were also promising before he parted ways with the club but Sserunkuma is one player you would like to play game in,game out.

The coach will need to roll up his sleeves as he has a tough paper when selecting the first line up come next season if three remain injury free.
Lweza F.C currently lay 11th on 16 team table, two slots above relegation.
